Producing an output

The editor is an asset's detail page. It splits the work into two steps, shown as tabs above the canvas: „Zuschnitt“ (Crop) and „AI-Label“. The crop is drawn on the original, the label sits on the finished output. Step 2 is clickable from the start — every value has a default.

Prerequisite: the asset is verified, and its format is one of the four editable ones — PNG, JPEG, MP4 or MOV. Other formats get a view-only page; videos get an editor of their own.

The signed-in product speaks German, so its labels and messages are quoted in German throughout, with the English rendering in italics.

Step 1 — „Zuschnitt“

The canvas with the original on the left, the column „Derivat-Einstellungen“ (Derivative settings) on the right. The zoom bar — fit, actual size and two step buttons — exists only here.

Choosing a format

The picker offers three kinds of tile in a fixed order:

• „Freiform“ (Freeform) — drag the frame yourself; the output size is the crop. Second line of the tile: „freier Zuschnitt · native Größe“ (free crop · native size).
• „Original“ — no crop, no scaling, native pixels. Second line: „nur Label · native Größe“ (label only · native size).
• Your workspace's formats, with dimensions and aspect ratio.

„Original“ is the default — and it does not give you the source file. The tile means: do not crop, do not scale, but burn the label in. What comes out is a newly rendered, signed output.

The actual source file is elsewhere: in the downloads drawer, section „Original“, row „Quelldatei“ (source file) — without a label and without a verstag signature. No dpi resolution is set for the „Original“ output; whatever the original states about its physical size still holds.

„Freiform“ and „Original“ stay greyed out until the browser has reported the image dimensions. Until then there is nothing to save either.

New formats are not created here — that belongs to the format catalogue under Settings → „Formate“.

Crop mode

Three modes: „Auto · Mitte“ (Auto · centre), „Auto · Motiv“ (Auto · subject) and „Manuell“ (Manual). With „Freiform“ the choice disappears — there you drag the frame yourself.

„Auto · Motiv“ looks for the subject via edges, contrast and entropy — no object and no face detection. The frame on screen is an approximation; the final crop is computed at render time. The info icon on the measurement line says as much in place: „Der Zuschnitt entsteht erst beim Rendern (Saliency) — dieser Rahmen ist die Näherung.“ (The crop is computed at render time (saliency) — this frame is the approximation.)

„Manuell“ becomes available once image and target dimensions are known. The frame can be dragged, scaled at the corners, and nudged with the arrow keys.

Step 2 — „AI-Label“

The canvas now shows the result preview, the column the „AI-Label“ section.

The on/off switch is labelled „„AI GENERATED“-Label einbrennen“ (burn in the „AI GENERATED“ label) and carries that text regardless of which label family you picked. With an EU template or one of your own, it still says „AI GENERATED“.

The switch is absent in two cases:

• The workspace requires the label. It then reads: „Das Label ist durch die Tenant-Policy vorgeschrieben — ohne Label bleibt dieses Derivat nach dem Rendern nicht herunterladbar.“ (The label is required by the tenant policy — without one this derivative stays undownloadable after rendering.)
• There is no label family. All controls are then replaced by „Keine Label-Familie eingerichtet — ohne Vorlage lässt sich kein Label einbrennen.“ (No label family set up — without a template nothing can be burnt in.) and the route to Settings → Labels.

The remaining controls appear once the label is on and a family is selected. The family picker itself shows only when there is more than one.

Variant: automatic or manual

On „Manuell“ you see the variant tiles. On „Automatisch“ the measured contrast finding stands in their place — verdict, value, minimum (4.5 : 1) and the name of the variant that will be burnt in. In automatic mode that line is the only place the chosen variant is named.

If a family has just one variant, the toggle is disabled and says so: „Nur eine Variante vorhanden“ (Only one variant available).

If the measurement fails, the choice visibly falls back to „Manuell“. Clicking „Automatisch“ starts a fresh attempt.

Size and margin

Two modes again. On „Automatisch“ verstag computes both values, the sliders disappear and a result line takes their place. It shows either the computed values, the note „Vorlage nicht kalibriert“ (template not calibrated) — the manually set numbers then apply — or the warning „Ausgabegröße zu klein für ein Label“ (output size too small for a label) with a button that switches to „Manuell“.

Free placement exists in manual mode only. With an anchored label there is a 3×3 grid; with a free position the label can be dragged in the preview and, once focused, moved with the arrow keys.

Saving

The save button stands in step 2 only. In step 1 the same place carries „Nächster Schritt“ (Next step) with the button „Weiter zu Labeling“ (On to labelling).

It is active when three things hold at once: the asset is verified, the image dimensions are measured, and there is a valid specification.

Above it, under the heading „Spec · Edit Decision List“, stands the numbered list of steps applied to the output; their order is the order of processing. What automation decided is marked there: auto(NN%) for a computed size, auto(variant) for an automatic variant choice.

After saving, a shortened identifier of the output appears under the button and as a brief message. Any further change to format, crop or label resets that success message.

While verification is not through

A warning banner then sits above the canvas. It knows three states — check running, check failed, not yet verified — and offers a start button in the last two.

Only saving is blocked. Format, crop and label stay operable; you can prepare everything and save as soon as the check is through.

If the check finishes while you watch, the message „Analyse abgeschlossen“ (Analysis complete) takes the banner's place. If you were still in step 1, it carries a button „Weiter zur Kennzeichnung“ (On to labelling). An asset already verified when you opened the page does not get that message.

What can go wrong

The result preview stays on „Bild wird geladen …“ (Loading image …). Only the step 1 canvas reports the dimensions. Switch to step 2 before the original has loaded there, and step 2 waits for good: go back to step 1, let the image load, then forward again.

The save button stays inactive although everything is set. Then one of the three conditions is missing. Most often it is the image dimensions — the same cause as above.

There is no specification, and the list says something other than „Format wählen …“. The label does not fit this output size. No output is produced at all; the way out is size and margin on „Manuell“.

The label is missing from the preview although it is switched on. The preview never shows raw slider values, only the resolved result. Where the marking is not possible on this canvas, nothing is drawn either.

The preview differs from the result. The rendered derivative is what counts — with „Auto · Motiv“ that is stated at the bottom edge as well: „Vorschau ≈ Ergebnis: Framing wird beim Rendern berechnet“ (Preview ≈ result: framing is computed at render time).
